We all love a good local fair but sometimes things can go terribly wrong in the blink of an eye. Thankfully no one was killed when this tower drop crashed to the ground from 50ft up.
6 People were sent to the hospital and a total of 15 injured, after this fair ride went horribly wrong fast. Many people suffered head and neck injuries as the tower drop plummeted straight to the ground without stopping.
The incident happened on September 4. at a fair in northern India's Punjab. Carnival management staff fled the scene after the impact, local media reported. Policeare still investigating what caused the accident that shocked the entire fairgrounds.
Riders can be seen bouncing up and out of their seats as the ride dropped from the top to the ground without slowing. I'm shocked no one was killed but the impact had to be devastating for the riders. 'A carnival was being organised and the eyewitness told us that there was a technical snag in the swing and it had fallen,' Deputy superintendent of police Harsimran Singh Bal told the Indian Express.
The Mohali Trade Fair has since been shut down completely as police look into the incident.
This is so scary to watch. It makes me a little weary of fair rides as we head into festival season this fall. I can't even imagine the horror of the riders and onlookers with family members on it.
