Joe Exotic, real name is Joseph Maldonado-Passage, described his life in the U.S. Penitentiary in Atlanta as the "bottom of hell."
The former "Tiger King" and owner of a Tiger rescue that was the focus of a massive Netflix docu-series isn't happy with his conditions inside the Atlanta prison where he now resides. He took to Instagram to complain that it's not livable.
"Senator Oshoff [sic], Warnock and Walker are all lying to you Black Voters of Georgia because the Animals at the Atlanta Zoo are living better then [sic] your loved ones are in here I promise," Joe wrote on IG.
He was was sentenced in January 2020 to 22 years in prison after he was convicted of trying to hire two different men to kill his rival zoo keeper Carol Baskin. One of the men was an FBI agent who he told in a recording, "Just like follow her into a mall parking lot and just cap her and drive off," and offered $10,000 for the job. Joe isn't dues for a potential parole until 2032.
According to Fox 5, the Atlanta penitentiary that Joe is in is currently under investigation. The U.S. Penitentiary in Atlanta for the past 10 months has been under scrutiny by the Senate Homeland Security Committee's Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations. Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff is behind the investigation and they have found evidence that the federal prison system has undermined public safety and jeopardized the health and safety of inmates and staff. The current conditions, according to the investigation, have contributed to the loss of life.
