Based on true events, a bear on cocaine goes on a deadly rampage.
Cocaine Bear, a movie based on events that took place in 1985 of a Black Bear ingesting 88lbs of cocaine after a drug plane goes down in the Georgia Forest. The crazy tail of a coked-out bear on a blood thirsty killing spree, will be released in theaters February 24 2023. It's directed by Elizabeth Banks, and stars the late Ray Liotta, who died back in May, and Keri Russell.
The official movie poster hit twitter and exploded viral with such an odd but true tail.
“Cocaine Bear” is based on the true accounts but didn't really go on a deadly rampage. The actual chain of events took place in September 1985 when a convicted drug smuggler named Andrew Thornton offloaded a duffel bag of cocaine over northern Georgia. A 175-pound black bear then ingested the cocaine and subsequently overdosed, and was discovered three months later next to about 40 plastic containers of cocaine. Thornton also died during an attempt to abandon the overloaded plane when his parachute was rendered faulty. Today, the bear is on display at the Kentucky for Kentucky Fun Mall in Lexington, Ky.
