So many great H.S. Football Championships in Georgia over the weekend but one terrible call ruined Championship hopes for Cedar Grove H.S.
For some athletes, the High School football championship is one of the great achievements in the sport they'll ever see. Terrible officiating stole those hopes and dreams from one team on 3rd and goal in the 4th quarter with less than :59 left on the clock. Twitter exploded after that game showing all the angles and the obvious terrible call that was made to give Sandy Creek the win.
Sandy Creek and Cedar Grove faced off in Georgia's 3A high school football championship game Saturday. Sandy Creek drove down witth less than a minute on the clock to try for a touchdown to win, down 17-14. 3rd and Goal they attempted a run up the gut and get stuffed... yet the ref throws up his hands for a TD. Every angle shows that that call was completely wrong, not to mention they picked up the ball well short of the goal line. It never crossed, yet Sandy Creek took the Win as they were given the touchdown.
They still had one more down after that play, so who knows if they still could've punched it in or would've kicked for the overtime tie.
Many on Twitter where not happy and it seems that this Championship loss will be extra crushing for the Cedar Grove team that has to live with it.
