India Jackson wrote that she's a single parent who has worked hard to to make this dream as a graduate student become a reality. Jackson received an internship of a lifetime but was worried about how she would be able to financially support it. "I have to pay for housing and travel upfront and it’s gonna be a struggle and I was feeling down about it but I had a talk with my cuzzo Dasha Fuller and she assured me that we will find a way to try and make it happen," Jackson wrote in a Facebook post.
A GoFundMe was set up and strangers raised $8,510 with more than 250 donors. There were plenty of positive comments posted on the site.
"I was once a struggling single mother trying to get a STEM degree," wrote Heather Krause. "It's totally worth it. You'll do great. Happy to be able to pass it on."
