The story line has become unclear. From the grainy surveillance footage, you see the gunman, at the top of the screen, walk behind Ortiz and shoot. Ortiz was treated in the Dominican but now the Red Sox sent their plane to get Ortiz back to Boston for medical care. Some reports say that the bullet damaged his liver and large intestine, which were presumably operated on.
Many are asking "why?" This is still the very unclear part. Was it a hitman? Was an affair happening? Hopefully more information will come out to determine the motive behind the shooting.
