64-year-old Larry Yockey has spent his life working on the same farm that his father and grandfather worked before him.But things took a turn for him this year when he was diagnosed with cancer. As he has battled the disease, Larry became less and less able to work the fields -- and was at risk of not harvesting his wheat and selling it at market.
That’s when his neighbors showed up -- dozens of them -- with their tractors and got to work.Working together, they completed the equivalent of three weeks of harvesting in about eight hours.
Without the help of his neighbors, the farm would have been a mess and he might have lost his crop to wind and rain damage. But the generosity of his neighbors ensured that the wheat was safe, which is allowing Larry to focus more of his attention on reclaiming his health.
