Local Bride Turns Bachelorette Party Into Mission Trip

Two hands seem to reach together in the sky

Rikki is getting married next month and the bride-to-be had her bachelorette weekend in The Bahamas all planned, until Hurricane Dorian slammed the islands.

But instead of cancelling the trip, the 24-year-old from Macon, Georgia contacted the resort where they had planned to stay since they were spared by Dorian. The resort already had a foundation set up to help the neighboring islands. That’s when her little sister, Chloe, suggested they turn the trip into a mission trip.

It took them three nights to pack all of the supplies and Delta even agreed to carry the extra luggage (40 suitcases) on board for free. The Baha Mar resort provided shuttles once the group arrived and then distributed the supplies on their behalf.

"Our trip was really fun, and I know our supplies went to the right people, and so it was great," Rikki says. "We were excited to be able to lend a hand."
