This is my mom, Dayl. She was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's when she was 55 years old. Over time, my Mom has slipped into a world that has brought on seizures, strokes, falls and deterioration of her physical body. Her mental health is also impacted, greatly. It's more than just "forgetfulness," or memory loss, it's the body forgetting how to operate as a body. My Mom is the reason I walk, speak and support the Alzheimer's Association of Georgia.
The walks this year are so simple! You can walk with friends, by yourself, in the gym, your neighborhood, or local high school track. We just want to urge everyone to get involved and flood the world with purple, the color for Alzheimer's.
You can support my Mom in several ways. You can simply donate to support my mom with my team, just click Dayl's Kids
You can also sign up a team for the virtual walk this year, on September 26th. Click here
You can also support your more local area simply by signing up for their virtual walks. Find that list here
The goal to find a cure to Alzheimer's has a deadline of 2025. We need all of us to keep our foot on the gas to make that happen. Alzheimer's is the fifth leading cause of death in America and that number continues to grow at a faster rate than other diseases.
I love you!
