'The Great American Boat Parade" Had Over 3,000 Vessels On Lake Lanier

Organizers believed that around 700 boats would participate and were floored when the approximate numbers came in. Members of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources estimated that between 3,000-4,000 boats took part in Saturdays event. It's now one of the largest boat parades to ever be held. Officials also said that there were no major issues, no overturned boats or emergencies. The parade began at the Buford Dam area of the lake and headed north to Browns Bridge. The event also raised money for a firefighter who lost their life on 9/11.
