Auburn University Is Re-instating Their Suspended Fishing Team After Outcry

Auburn University had their team caught, "hook, line and sinker!" But now, the team has jumped off the hook and will be back after outcry from family, friends and the fishing community. The fishing team was suspended after meeting with school officials until Jan. 1, 2022, according to a memo that circulated on social media. The team had violated the university’s COVID-19 policies for travel and meetings three times since last summer, according to the document. This caused many to get involved, including pro angler, Gerald Swindle, an Alabama resident.

A change.org petition began to circulate, conversations were had and now, the club is being re-instated. “I am thankful that Auburn University and its administration were willing to listen to us and consider all of the facts with an open mind,” said Logan Parks, president of the Auburn University Bass Fishing Club. The club will resume competing on April 22, 2021.
