Last year 147 Million people were part of a data breach from Equifax. On Monday, Equifax agreed to pay up to $700 million total to settle claims.
Here's how you can get your share of the settlement.
First you need to learn if your information was compromised. Do this by heading to EquifaxBreachSettlement.com. Type in your last name and the last six digits of your Social Security Number.
If it was compromised, you can then choose between a $125 cash settlement and multiple years of free credit monitoring.
Plus, if you spent time or money fixing things caused by identity theft, you might be eligible for even more money.
And even if you weren't part of the breach and don't file a claim, you can get free credit reports for seven years.
You have until January 22, 2020 to file.
