Major the dog gets his own inauguration and helps pet adoption!

President-elect Joe Biden’s rescue dog, Major, received his own swearing-in to the White House on Sunday. The virtual "indoguration" benefited the shelter that Major was adopted from and attempted a Guinness World record!

The Delaware Humane Association and Pumpkin Pet Insurance hosted the event. The Biden family adopted Major in 2018 after they saw a social media from the DHA that said they had received a litter of sick German Shepherd puppies. The Bidens fostered the puppy for several months before making the adoption official. Now Major is on his way to becoming America's first-ever shelter dog on his way to live at the White House!

The event raised over $200,000 for The Delaware Humane Association which is a non-profit, no-kill animal care and adoption center.

The Bidens have another dog, Champ, who was acquired after the 2008 election. They have said they’ll be bringing both their dogs to the White House and also plan to get a cat.
