Today is Spouse's Day

January 26th is Spouse's Day. Before you make a sarcastic remark or write a snarky comment, hear me out on this. It might actually improve your relationship. And sometimes, we just need to know that we're appreciated.

Spouse's Day shouldn't be confused with Military Spouses Day, which is held the Friday before Mother's Day. Today is simply a day to enjoy and appreciate your better half (whether you’re legally married, or not). You can use this day as a prelude or warm up to Valentine's Day, perhaps. But, don’t worry, it’s not as much of a gift giving event.

What this day is, is an opportunity for you to show your spouse that you care and appreciate all of the things that he/she does for you and for the household. When is the last time you've done that? Over the long years of a relationship, it’s easy to take for each other for granted – especially all the little things that your “other” does (even if it’s remembering to put the seat down or squeeze the toothpaste tube from the end “because you like it that way.”)

At the end of the day, he/she is always there for you. So, take today to notice and to say thank you.

If you're one of the few that actually makes a habit of letting your Boo know that they are appreciated...maybe just suggest it to your friends. I can almost guarantee that if you take a moment to leave a sweet note or just tell that person how much you appreciate what they do, it'll be met with a smile. You may even hear from them how much YOU are appreciated. It's a win-win in my book.

As for the "enjoyment" part of the day...I'm gonna leave that up to you and your spouse...bow chicka wow wow…

Happy Spouse's Day, Y'all!!!!
