Many of us remember exactly where we were when we found out that Princess Diana died. It was news that rocked the British monarchy and the world. And now a quarter of a century later, her memory still lives on.
Today marks the 25th anniversary of the tragic death of Britain’s Princess Diana in 1997 in a car accident in Paris. The accident happened because the car she was riding in was being chased by paparazzi – something that marked Diana’s life in the public eye.
A number of people have laid flowers at the gates of her former home at Kensington Palace today. Diana's sons, William and Harry, are marking the day privately with their families. Last week Harry spoke publicly about today.
"I want it to be a day filled with memories of her incredible work and love for the way that she did it. I want it to be a day to share the spirit of my mum with my family - with my children who I wish could have met her."
"Candle in the Wind 1997," Elton John's tribute song to Diana, remains the best-selling chart single of all time.
Diana is an iconic figure in history. Much of her legacy remains in the charitable work she did for children and people who were infected with HIV. Diana changed so many lives. She is still so missed by people all over the world.
